Strategy and Operations Associate, Internal Audit

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a management consulting, operations, business strategy, risk, compliance, audit or assurance role, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience supporting projects, including change management or process development/improvement.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the Internal Audit function and or related risk management functions (e.g., Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management) strategies and practices (e.g., IIA standards, audit methodology, policy/procedure development).
  • Experience in leveraging data visualization tools to effectively communicate information and insights. (e.g., Looker, PLX Dashboard).
  • Experience influencing leaders or stakeholders through problem-solving skills and ability to process high volumes of data to draw sound recommendations.
  • Experience developing high quality communications tailored to Management levels and evidence of written and verbal communication skills.

Internal Audit‘s mission is to focus on reducing risk across Alphabet. We do this by monitoring the risk environment across Alphabet and providing insights to enable effective risk management. We work closely with teams and leadership to achieve a control environment that enhances and protects organizational value. We serve as one of the company’s various lines of defense for staffing and developing our team to be control experts who deliver objective and reliable results.

As a Strategy and Operations Associate, you will advise the business and engineering groups to identify areas of risk and make valuable recommendations on controls. You will have the opportunity to influence change and decisions for business initiatives including product launches and system implementations. You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment and will be passionate about technology, with the ability to focus on key issues and their associated details. You will also support team initiatives from planning strategy through execution.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,000-$133,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive change management and contribute to development and deployment of industry leading methodology, risk management strategies and practices.
  • Promote compliance and maintain the Audit Risk Universe to enable risk prioritization in the derivation of the audit plan and applicable processes.
  • Maintain, improve and create audit management tools (e.g., automation) and resources (e.g., training, licenses, external relationships) to elevate impact, work quality, operational efficiency and team well-being.
  • Enhance/support stakeholder reporting (e.g., quarterly Audit Committee updates, project deliverables) that represent our work and influence proper management response; provide visibility and analysis on KPIs, also recommendations for improvement, quality and consistency.
  • Help shape and deliver leadership's goal of Internal Audit by helping develop content and organize team-wide events. In addition, support our team leads with recruiting, on-boarding and development of team talent.
