Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in managing technical projects.
  • 8 years of experience in infrastructure.
  • 5 years of experience in leadership role with direct reports.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience delivering mission-critical infrastructure projects on accelerated timelines with an ability to analyze technical details in-depth.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority across executive levels, and drive organizational change in a changing environment.
  • Ability to build effective program teams, manage cross-organizational stakeholders, and retain their trust through pivots.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for executive audiences and build compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and delivering programs that resulted in significant, measurable improvements in velocity, efficiency, or quality.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

Network Delivery Engineering (NDE) focus is translating Google's network innovations into tangible, global-scale reality. We are the bridge between new network product development and its deployment across Google's vast infrastructure. Our team is responsible for the processes, software, data models, and material specifications vital for the launch and ongoing operation of next-generation (next-gen) network products. We productionize connecting the world with Google.

As a Lead Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) who orchestrate the delivery of Google's next-generation networking solutions. You will be the driving behind our most critical objective: to achieve a significant improvement in our speed to General Availability (GA) and post-GA cycle times.

You will build the strategy, develop the people, and clear the path for your team to deliver the networking infrastructure that powers the next big thing for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to achieve a 3x speed-to-market improvement for networking products while executing a roadmap that directly impacts company-level Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Leverage domain expertise to influence technical roadmaps and white papers alongside engineering leaders, providing visibility into execution risks and dependencies.
  • Manage and coach a high-performing team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs), fostering an environment of psychological safety and sustained performance.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align on goals and drive organizational change through scalable systems and best practices.
  • Serve as a credible leader, communicating program strategy and sensitive issues to executive audiences with clarity and confidence.
