Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience as a technical program manager in a product quality setting.
  • Experience and expertise in product quality management of consumer hardware products.
  • Experience with consumer hardware and cross-functional teams including engineering, industrial or product design in module development or vendor development or management.
  • Experience in implementing quality escalation processes and ongoing product improvement.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in electronics product assembly, inspection and test process development.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams problem-solving using six Sigma (Joint Measurement Planning (JMP) or similar Software), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) process.
  • Experience in life data analysis and projection model setting.
  • Experience in implementing quality escalation process and ongoing product improvement.
  • Ability to travel internationally 20% of the time.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will use your technical expertise to lead multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You will work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You will be responsible for explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you would be discussing the technical trade offs in product development with engineers. You will work closely with hardware and software engineers, product managers, contract manufacturers, Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to products built, tested and released on time. You will coordinate many fast-changing, moving parts and get them to come together as a product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams on quality initiatives, take on ambiguity and build consensus. Be an outstanding communicator both written and verbal and influence at all levels of the company.
  • Develop and manage hardware development project schedules with engineering teams and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Identify dependencies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute, mitigate risks and issues and meet system build milestones, cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution among cross-functional teams of engineers.
  • Understand detailed implications of decisions and recommendations and communicate recommended solutions to the product development team through the executive leadership of the company.
