Strategic Negotiator, Portfolio Management

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Finance, Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading negotiations and business development.
  • Experience negotiating or supporting the negotiation of bilateral real estate agreements, managing projects of varying sizes, timelines, and scale.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with any of the following: site selection for industrial-scale projects, real estate transaction, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, construction, discussing or managing utility agreements, energy-related issues, implementation of clean energy initiatives, financial modeling, large collocation agreements.
  • Experience in indirect taxes, economic development policy, financial modeling, infrastructure development, agreement drafting and redlining, and presentation development.
  • Knowledge of power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial class electrical and cooling technology, and other related areas.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time as needed.

As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It's a big job that involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

Google's infrastructure needs to go far beyond server racks. As Google's products and services scale to serve billions, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future everything from underwater cables to data center space.

In this role, you will manage the EMEA infrastructure portfolio to deliver cost-effective solutions to support Google's growth. You will help to drive location strategy, site selection, and portfolio management for new and existing data centers sites and related infrastructure. You will support the development of the company's global energy portfolio strategy (e.g., identifying and helping in the creation of industry renewable energy projects) to support the company’s goal to be carbon neutral.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic capacity delivery across EMEA, ensuring readiness for Google's needs. Manage a site portfolio, encompassing project management, stakeholder engagement, expansion support, and process optimization through lessons learned.
  • Lead portfolio management for EMEA data center sites, guaranteeing timely capacity delivery. Be accountable for project execution, key stakeholder negotiations, expansion initiatives, and integrating best practices into site selection and delivery.
  • Oversee a portfolio of EMEA sites to proactively secure capacity for Google. This includes project leadership, build to suit/design and build agreement negotiation, alignment with regional plans, and upholding delivery standards.
  • Manage end-to-end portfolio delivery of data center capacity throughout EMEA. This includes project oversight, negotiating agreements, ensuring regional alignment, maintaining standards, and fostering strong internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead the strategic management and delivery of EMEA data center sites to meet Google's capacity demands.
