Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in optical transmissions systems (DWDM) or LAN/wireless protocols or TCP/IP.
- Experience with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment (e.g., installation, commissioning and network troubleshooting).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines; Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
- Understanding of optical design trade-offs and TL1/CLI automation.
- Proficiency in creating long-haul optical designs using vendor design tools, applying technical judgement to a given optical design, translating to bits on the wire.
- Proficiency in New Product Introduction (NPI) and writing test plan documents in a lab or staging environment.
- Ability to identify repetitive work and propose automation for workflows.

The Network teams are responsible for operating the network reliably at scale. The team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, the team is involved from site acquisition to construction and is accountable for what space and power is delivered. Once that infrastructure is delivered, the team is involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Responsibilities
- Build and operate Google's network reliably at scale.
- Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.
- Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.
- Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
- Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.
