Senior UX Designer, Android Youth Experiences

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in visual design, UI design patterns, motion design, etc.
  • 2 years of experience in design leadership and thinking.
  • Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve features within a user-centered design process.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile, Android and iOS.
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing product design strategy.

The Android Youth Experiences (YouthX) team is dedicated to captivating the next generation by building engaging experiences for young users on Android phones and watches. Recognizing that youth represent over 30% of the global population, the team prioritizes creating delightful products tailored specifically for them, aiming to foster a lasting connection with the Android platform.

This is a unique opportunity to join at a foundational stage, as the YouthX team is actively shaping its long-term strategy and roadmap. In this role, you will have the chance to define the direction and scope of their work from the ground up, contributing significantly to how Android inspires and connects with young people worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive ideation, design, and pixel-perfect implementation of features across iOS, Android, and device surfaces.
  • Develop user journeys, mockups, prototypes, storyboards, and presentations to effectively communicate design ideas and excite teams across Google.
  • Work closely with Product Manager, UX Researcher, and Marketing to strategize and build concise user centric goals.
  • Help shape and define the culture of an tight-knit, collaborative cross-functional team.
  • Flex your skillset to identify high value needs across a nimble team beyond design to help our product succeed.
