Software Engineer, Nexus Observability Infrastructure (Enlgish)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with Apps Framework, Work Autonomously, Debugging/Troubleshooting, Problem Solving, Google Infrastructure, Production Support.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in C++ programming language.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to interact with local stakeholders in this customer-facing role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in debugging systems and solving production issues as part of Oncall.
  • Experience supporting team members, committed to providing assistance and fostering a collaborative environment within the team.
  • Knowledge of Google Infrastructure: Borg, Automon, Pod/Boq, Rollout, Annealing, Sisyphus, Rapid, GSLB, Plx.
  • Ability to track record for delivering on projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  • Passion for designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

In this role, you will empower Googlers across all Product Areas with powerful interfaces to data and servers for their debugging and development journeys. You will be working on a distributed (running in every cluster) and scalable infrastructure that serves millions of QPS with TiB/s of data ingestion. You will make visible and impactful changes to delight your peers across Google.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. Responsibilities

  • Build new features and improve the scalability and responsiveness of our infrastructures: RDL(Remote Debug Logging) and Sherlog(privacy aware tracing).
  • Solve problems around query latency, data freshness, index correctness and serving at scale. Automate and improve efficiency in operational and user support.
  • Participate in Weekly Onduty rotation to handle user and operational tickets.
  • Collaborate with Privacy to explore options for quick access to Debug Data while protecting Users' Data.
  • Support users with system integrations and resolving client issues.
