PSS - Data Protection is at the heart of everything we do, and as we design our products, we focus on three key principles: keeping user information safe, treating it responsibly, and putting users in control. The Privacy, Safety and Security (PSS) organization within Google helps teams across the company deliver essential, products that set the bar in the industry while also treating users with the profound respect they deserve when it comes to controlling and understanding their data.

As a Technical Program Director of Product Security and Data Protection, you will be a strategic leader responsible for defining, driving, and overseeing complex, cross-functional programs critical to the security and privacy of our products and users. You will partner with engineering, product, and other key stakeholders to ensure that our products are secure-by-default and compliant with regulations, as we advance AI capabilities across Google’s product portfolio.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic direction and roadmap for major data protection infrastructure and security programs, aligning with business objectives and long-term technology vision. Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of complex programs, including defining scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and success metrics.
  • Foster strong relationships and effectively collaborate with teams across Engineering, Product, and Legal to ensure program alignment and successful execution. Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, business unit stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Lead and motivate a large, cross-functional program team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. 
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of all program activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate program risks and issues, proactively addressing roadblocks.
