  • Ability to interface with partners, solve critical problems through analysis, and grow in a changing, fluid, and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to consult and communicate cross-functionally and externally, think strategically about issues, and convert insights into straightforward, timely actions.

About the job

The Music Label Business Development Manager for Japan is responsible for driving the in-market music business development strategy for YouTube. You will lead the development and execution of strategies for collaborating and licensing with commercial labels within the region, acting as the primary commercial point of contact and subject-matter expert for Japan music market. Your responsibilities include discussing and closing licensing agreements, ensuring oversight of payment schedules and contractual obligations, and managing partner health in collaboration with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, and Legal. You will build productive relationships with external partners at regional headquarters and local labels, reinforcing YouTube's role as a vital partner in the evolving music ecosystem. Additionally, you will identify trends using data analytics to drive business goals, prioritize new opportunities within the YouTube product roadmap, and synchronize resources for effective go-to-market execution.At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. Responsibilities

  • Establish, discuss and renew music licensing agreements with music labels in Japan, ensuring oversight of payment schedules, business generation criteria, and contractual obligations.
  • Drive managing partner engagement and relationship by tracking business metrics and insights, building business forecasts, and ensuring brand/reputation management. Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for partners, advocating for their needs internally and managing daily activities to enhance performance and user experience. Serve as a trusted advisor and expert on their business on YouTube.
  • Leverage knowledge of the YouTube product roadmap to prioritize new business opportunities and resolve partner issues.
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for music in Japan market, engaging with executive leadership to foster sustainable, long-term partnerships.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Legal departments to synchronize resources for effective go-to-market execution and partner strategies.
