Senior Design for Manufacturability Engineer, Devices and Services

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Materials or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (e.g., Process Engineering).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.
  • Experience in PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes, including rework processes with underfills, component footprint design rules, miniaturization, design or manufacturing analysis.
  • Knowledge of PCBA and product level failure modes, with the ability to relate failure modes to process, material and design related stressors or write scripts for automating Design for Manufacturability (DfM) reviews.
  • Knowledge of Surface mount assembly in flexible circuits.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin to engage with stakeholders in the regions.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time internationally, as required.

Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

In this role, you will work from prototype to New Product Introduction (NPI) to commercialization of products. You will be the cornerstone of all New Product Introduction activities and will work with technical cross-functional teams in the development of new products.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement with cross-functional teams to define the effective and efficient method for launching the Google hardware.
  • Lead factory-related operational issues related to Surface mount technology (SMT) assembly processes during pre-production builds through mass production.
  • Lead engineering support with respect to failure analysis, yield, reliability improvements and cost reduction, and guide all Printed Circuit Board/Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCB/PCBA) related support to new products under development.
  • Perform design analysis using applicable tools and processes and define a strategy for the evaluation of the new technology.
  • Develop partnerships with engineering, supply chain and other cross-functional organizations to ensure risk and tests will be assessed.
