Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages with a foundation in data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, and launching software products, with 1 year in software design and architecture.
  • Experience developing deep learning-based algorithms on large datasets.
  • Experience in processing natural language and the application of Large Language Models (LLMs).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience collaborating in complex, cross-functional projects.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

As a Senior AI/ML Software Engineer, you will lead the development of intelligent interfaces using NLP and LLMs. You will make a significant impact by unlocking the potential of the world's data for everyone in a fluid, collaborative environment.

In addition, we also aim to share perspectives, engage, and collaborate with others externally on technology related issues and opportunities for society.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems for effortless natural language querying of our Data Commons knowledge graph.
  • Implement advanced techniques to ground Large Language Models (LLMs) with Data Commons data for accurate and contextual insights.
  • Own the full life-cycle of AI/ML projects, building scalable systems on GCP Vertex AI for user-facing features.
  • Work closely with a small team in a startup-like setting, contributing to quick development cycles with a focus on quality.
  • Contribute to our open-source platform and be willing to contribute across the stack, including data and potentially UI.
