Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
- 1 year of experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.
- 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- Experience with C++ or SQL.

Kids and Families GenAI team is a horizontal team that helps Google-wide product teams build and enable high-quality GenAI experiences for kids and teens. Kids and teens are early adopters of AI technologies and we want to ensure that youth of all ages have access to safe, age-appropriate and helpful AI experiences across Google.
Our current and upcoming initiatives include Text and Image safety classifiers for teens, Autoraters, Data-as-a-Service, Self-serve client integrations, Base model steering/safety, Introspection, Audio/Video native safety models, Kids and Teens Gen AI quality score.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Build and improve machine learning models to predict safety, age-appropriateness and quality of AI generated responses across a wide variety of modalities (text, image, video, audio) and kids and teens user journeys.
- Collaborate with a strong group of engineers in the organization, learning and applying cutting-edge ML techniques in order to build safe and high-quality AI experiences for kids and teens.
- Analyze Cross-Product Area (xPA) data, build data pipelines and drive production stability.
- Align work with cross-functional partners working on product, policy, content strategy, and trust and safety.
- Contribute to cross-team collaborations with other engineering teams working on Gen AI products for kids and teens.
