Image Quality Expert, AI Innovation and Research

Remote location: India.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience capturing training data for ML models or generative AI, and experience with data curation and annotation for AI training.
  • 1 year of experience working with a team of engineers or researchers developing camera software serving as an image quality expert.
  • Experience in advanced video editing tools and photography covering several fields and image processing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to learn technical concepts of imaging processing pipelines.
  • Ability to be creative and perform visual ideation.
  • Passion for mobile photography, with the ability to articulate and communicate visual concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to educate/communicate photography concepts.
  • Excellent aesthetic judgment, including but not limited to photographic composition, lighting, AWB, exposure, etc.
  • Excellent image processing and editing skills.

AI Innovation and Research (AIR) team has the potential to help define the future of visual media and promote its continued democratization helping all users capture the important moments in their lives. As a member of the AIR Image Quality Expert team, you have the opportunity to work directly with the Research teams in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment to help realize this outlook.

This role requires making complex aesthetic decisions when delivering qualitative and quantitative feedback during development. This includes contributing to product strategy by identifying emerging trends and opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide qualitative and quantitative feedback on tuning and algorithmic changes that affect image quality.
  • Collect training data and photos for generative AI, ML models, and algorithms, curate datasets and evaluation sets for software development.
  • Be able to beta test and evaluate real-time effects to improve features and find bugs to avoid negative brand impact/reviews.
  • Help define product opportunities and set direction (identify emerging trends, identify gaps between casual smartphone and professional photography, etc.).
  • Make complex, subjective aesthetic decisions (i.e., matters of taste and participate in UX discussions on new features).
