Senior Strategist, Trust and Safety, Search Discovery

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or in a scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).
  • Experience working with abuse, spam, fraud or malware, and working on product policy analysis and identifying policy risks.
  • Experience using statistical analysis and hypothesis testing, and analyzing ML models performance or working on LLMs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

Trust and Safety is a team of user trust experts who think big and aim high to earn every user’s trust. We cultivate thought leadership, domain expertise and innovation to help Google stay ahead of abuse and deliver trusted and safe experiences to all users.

Discover trust team will work alongside product, engineering and policy teams to proactively understand risk, detect harm patterns, apply state of the art technology like AI, LLMs to novel trust problems and define industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cross-functional, multi- quarter, high-visibility technical trust projects (e.g., application of GenAI frameworks like agentic AI, LLM as rater across search, create strategy and momentum around user issues like clickbait, build algorithmic signals that work at scale, etc.). Analyze and debug escalations and identify trends that can indicate bigger product risks.
  • Use technical acumen to drive project delivery, challenge proposals and identify risks. Manage multiple interdependent projects of moderate to high complexity, manage large cross-functional teams with limited guidance and own solutions for areas within your scope.
  • Collaborate with other teams and functions (e.g., Engineering, Product Manager, Legal, Policy).
  • Perform on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis, including weekend coverage as needed.
  • Perform complex data analysis to derive insights that help identify and fight abuse across our products.
