Staff Software Engineer, Front End, Workspace

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in TypeScript or JavaScript.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience with front-end and user interface development.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in FE infrastructure development and instrumentation, across multiple platforms (e.g., web, iOS, Android).
  • Experience with Client-Side development (e.g., TypeScript, web development, iOS, android, JavaScript) and FE code productionization (e.g., performance, coverage testing, rollout strategies).
  • Experience with large-scale FE systems (e.g., web-based products: high user count, high reliability expectations, high complexity, accessibility considerations, data analysis and processing).
  • Experience leading engineering projects, especially as an authority on code quality and reliability.

Editors JsToJava is a team dedicated to building multi platform solutions for that codebase for web and mobile across multiple top Google products, executing a large scale Front End (FE) infrastructure changes impacting billions of users and boosting engineering velocity.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a broad spectrum of Front-End (FE) infrastructure changes by collaborating effectively with multiple experienced Software Engineer (SWE) domain experts across products, codebases, and architectural paradigms.
  • Own critical project workstreams, actively advancing technical objectives while maintaining strategic alignment with Technical Leads (TLs) and key stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and design-level input, incorporating established best practices and architectural conventions to identify and resolve quality issues before they become roadblocks.
  • Lead a team of domain expert SWEs as a TL, ensuring high-quality execution of priorities, understanding of work areas, and efficient delivery without compromising the safety or performance of deployed changes.
  • Define team projects, timelines, and roadmaps, presenting and aligning these goals with Area Technical Leads (ATLs) and organizational leadership. Evaluate staffing configurations, project sequencing and prioritization strategies to maximize the team's impact on company-wide goals.
