Senior Accountant

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification in CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance from accounting practice or public multinational technology companies.
  • Experience with accounting principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related international accounting standards.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in business partnering with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness and a high degree of attention to detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to lead and drive complex initiatives cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment across a large, complex, global organization.
  • Ability to be direct, have a strong work ethic, work in a fast-paced environment, and be adaptable to changing responsibilities and priorities.

You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. The Google International Controllership team's mission is to keep Google safe, legal and operating in each jurisdiction in which the company operates.

As a member of this dynamic team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You will be responsible for the statutory financial and tax filings required by law, and you'll also manage and enhance the financial control environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the statutory compliance of a portfolio of companies. As a well-rounded financial advisor you will guide the business to mitigate risk, support high quality decision making and help build the financial infrastructure to scale in support of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the annual statutory financial statements and tax compliance process, including management of the external audit and tax filings for a portfolio of Alphabet companies in EMEA. 
  • Perform regular in­-depth analysis on the financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records. Prepare, analyse and post journals at month end.
  • Review reconciliations of key balance sheet account balances including relevant reporting for the same.
  • Manage the delivery of accounting processes performed by external vendors ensuring that all service levels are met, the internal control environment is strong and a quality service is provided.
  • Represent international controllership with our key business partners through effective communication across a broad network of stakeholders.
