Program Manager III, Data Center Equipment Spend Planning

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience creating process improvements, working with spreadsheet/database models, and ERP & Planning systems such as Kinaxis, SAP or other similar tools.
  • Experience in data center spend planning or developing CAPEX and OPEX procurement and governance policies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in using Enterprise Resource Planning and Product Lifecycle Management systems and tools like Kinaxis, SAP or other IBP tools.
  • Experience leading functional systems implementations (gathering requirements, writing BRDs, managing user acceptance testing) working alongside engineering/development teams.
  • Experience in supply chain operations or planning, planning materials and costs for new product launches and transitions in the tech industry.
  • Knowledge of S&OP processes and experience in development and implementation of scalable planning systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of financial and cost accounting practices as well as Analytics/SQL/BigQuery.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Our team procures and delivers the cooling and electrical gear that power our data centers. The end result of our work is the delivery of Google's products and services to billions of users around the world. As a Spend Planning Program Manager, you will be responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, and governance of CAPEX and OPEX needed to support our supply chain for existing and new products. You will be responsible for the interpretation of the data center demand signal and translating it to a capital plan for our supply chain driving optimal funding decisions. You will work closely with Equipment and Data Center Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Fulfillment, Commodity Management, and Contract Manufacturing teams to develop and manage the execution of an accurate funding plan supporting procurement activities and business strategies.

You will use your skills to establish metrics, process, and system improvements to accomplish efficiency and scalability goals and ensure proper governance influencing our rapidly growing data center infrastructure supply chain.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop short and long term capital forecast models supporting material supply and justify funding allocation strategies to optimize costs and service levels. Communicate capital plans to stakeholders and lead the quarterly spend approval process for critical equipment.
  • Manage end-to-end CAPEX and OPEX plans for product demand, coordinating cross-functionally to align with fluctuating requirements.
  • Resolve funding gaps, document process requirements, and manage performance metrics for supply chain capital management and governance.
  • Utilize market intelligence to create governance models, improve inventory models and supply chain buffers.
  • Lead the transition from manual planning to automated systems (e.g., Kinaxis, Anaplan, SAP), owning the lifecycle from writing BRD to evaluating vendors/systems, to partnering with engineering teams to drive implementation.
