Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • 14 years of experience in energy market development, energy regulatory affairs, and energy policy advocacy across North and South America.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Experience working stakeholders, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks of North and South American energy markets, including wholesale market operators (e.g., ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP), state public utility commissions, and federal energy agencies (e.g., FERC).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage high-impact campaigns and regulatory interventions to achieve strategic business objectives, particularly in securing data center capacity and advancing clean energy goals.
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, industry partners, utility partners, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading desired outcomes in complex regulatory and legislative arenas.
  • Demonstrated success managing and leading teams of 10 or more to achieve business objectives in complex energy markets, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration.
  • Creative and strategic approach to solving ambiguous, multi-stakeholder challenges, thriving in environments with uncertainty.

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$302,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Energy Strategic Negotiators, directing high-impact campaigns to reform energy policy and market regulations across North and South America.
  • Oversee all energy regulatory interventions and policy advocacy to secure data center capacity, support 24/7 carbon-free electricity goals, and mitigate operational cost risks.
  • Direct strategic analysis of the Americas' energy landscape—including markets and regulatory environments—to identify risks, opportunities, and develop innovative electricity supply solutions.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and manage advocacy efforts with external industry partners and trade associations to advance strategic energy priorities.
  • Serve as the lead company representative at industry forums while managing a portfolio of long-term strategic projects to secure clean, stable, and cost-effective power.
