  • Experience delivering multiple major strategic initiatives simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of technology partnerships and experience negotiating or developing partnerships.
  • Ability to operate in a complex and matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

About the job

The Platforms and Devices (P&D) team is responsible for driving a set of prioritized business development initiatives to catalyze Android platform growth and business growth. The team forges strategic partnerships that expand the reach of Android to more than half a billion users, creating a thriving ecosystem that benefits users, partners, and Google.

As the Director for Android Partnerships, Japan, you will define the country strategy and the partnership roadmap across a broad spectrum of partners, which include Retailers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Carriers, etc. You will help to bring the best of Google to help our partners succeed and sustainably grow our users, products, and ecosystems.

Google’s Global Partnerships team powers extraordinary user experiences through partnerships that solve users’ needs, advance our partners’ goals, and further Google’s mission. Our team provides meaningful solutions — from helping publishers and developers grow their businesses through monetization solutions, to helping our long-term partners anticipate and navigate change in a way that delivers economic and reputational value. We build and distribute products through partnerships across a multitude of product areas, including Ads, Search & Assistant, Geo, Platforms & Ecosystems, Devices & Services, Health, Retail, Payments, Next Billion Users, and more. We collaborate across Google, ensuring a coordinated approach when engaging with our most complex and strategic partners.

Responsibilities

  • Define Google’s partnership strategy to build, distribute, and enable Google’s products in Japan, aligning with Product and global and regional Business Development leads.
  • Oversee and act as lead negotiator for our sensitive partnerships in Japan, driving consensus internally and escalating as needed to Google leadership.
  • Lead a high-performing team to execute against our company's goals. Secure and allocate the resources to ensure Global Partnerships is able to deliver upon our product goals in the market.
  • Partner with and provide expertise to Managing Director, Vice President and Senior Vice President cross-functional leadership at Google including: Regional Leadership, Product, Engineering, PR/Comms, Marketing, and Legal.
  • Represent Google (in collaboration with other Google teams) at select external events including industry forums, partner conferences or events, and Google hosted external events.
