Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, investigation, auditing, legal, or consulting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience organizing data and applying business context to improve processes or operations.
  • Experience in developing, implementing compliance programs; equal focus on strategy and execution.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in stakeholder management; including coordination with excutive leadership, cross-functional teams, external auditors, and customers.

The Google Compliance team makes sure that our business is always consistent with the current financial regulations. Comprised of multitaskers, this team balances Google's legal and compliance requirements with the dynamic needs of our users and the values of our company. As part of this team, you proactively identify pain points and gaps in existing policy frameworks and find innovative solutions. You develop efficient compliance systems and work with teams to implement these across the organization. You are thorough in all you do and see to it that as Google pursues our next big idea, we always have our bases covered.

Google is seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Assurance Program Manager to strengthen regulatory compliance through leading ongoing oversight and programmatic efforts related to compliance issues management and binding commitments, across the following compliance risk domains: Payments, Competition, Consumer Protection, Content, Privacy, Security and Artificial Intelligence.

This role will interact with multiple First Line of Defense (1LoD) and 1.5 LoD teams. In this role, you will be responsible for engagement and providing expert guidance on their use of the issues management process, and offering oversight to 1LoD teams responsible for addressing controls. Additionally, you will provide Second Line of Defense (2LoD) oversight for Google Binding Commitments, including capturing the commitments, requirements and controls using Google’s governance, risk, and compliance management tooling, and working with program team members.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $158,000-$235,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Take charge of compliance and risk management programs, focusing on issues management and binding legal commitments.
  • Work closely with other teams to guide them through the compliance process, improve communication, and use data to make better decisions.
  • Partner with engineering teams to enhance the systems used for tracking issues and compliance, and continuously find ways to improve the overall program.
  • Lead and mentor a team of compliance professionals, fostering a collaborative culture and helping them with their career growth.
  • Evaluate regulations in the context of Google's technical infrastructure, benchmark against industry standards, and use key risk indicators to provide strategic oversight and ensure continuous improvement.
