Technical Accountant, Consolidation and Investments

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 10 years of experience at public accounting firms and multinational companies working in technical accounting, accounting policies, accounting advisory, or similar roles.
  • Experience with investments and financial instruments accounting, consolidation and derivatives accounting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
  • Experience in the National Office.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting principles, with subject matter expertise in ASC 810, ASC 310, ASC 320, ASC 321, ASC 323 and ASC 815.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to work with management and influence decision making.

About the job

As a member of the Alphabet Technical Accounting team, you will be at the forefront of assessing complex accounting arrangements. As part of the Technical Accounting team, you will be focused on navigating the accounting guidance for investments, financial assets, derivatives and consolidation.

You will partner and collaborate with business partners to understand the agreement construct and provide a point of view on investments, financial instruments and consolidation accounting, and drive impact by being able to think on your feet to discuss alternative structures. You will work on solving accounting problems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$227,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical consultant to business partners under US GAAP.
  • Perform technical accounting research on complex accounting issues primarily related to investment accounting, financial instruments, derivatives and consolidation.
  • Review documentation of accounting analyses.
  • Communicate complex arrangements including the accounting assessment to leadership and colleagues.
