Data Center Facilities Technician Electrical

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other verifiable training in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of Electrical experience (eg. electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Experience in control room operations for critical systems, with electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs of equipment, the required use of OSHA standard safety equipment such as limited weight bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, on shift-based schedules.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification as an HVAP/LVAP (High Voltage Authorised Person/ Low Voltage Authorised Person).
  • Experience planning and executing installation, commissioning, and equipment startup, following industry practices and protocols.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems within data center environments, alongside relevant controls and monitoring systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Full driving license (EU valid).

In this role, you will monitor several data centers from a central control room, ensuring quick response and minimum recovery time from failures. You also troubleshoot problems, perform maintenance and repairs on critical equipment, work collaboratively with internal or external teams to maximize reliability while maintaining a low equipment downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Effective monitor multiple information streams in the control room and make accurate mission-critical decisions.
  • Responsible for the uptime, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems and power monitoring.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
  • Direct the execution of controls system programming, starting-up, commissioning, documentation, and full facilities turnover on assigned projects.
