Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • 10 years of experience in partnerships, business development, public policy, or government affairs, with infrastructure, water, sustainability, or technology sectors.
  • Experience leading multi-party agreements with both corporate and governmental entities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA, JD, or Master's degree in Public Policy or a related field.
  • Experience structuring and executing public-private partnerships (PPPs) for infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of the global data center value chain.
  • Ability to operate in a global capacity, navigating various cultural and political landscapes.
  • Excellent foresight and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among executives and government officials.

About the job

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

In this role, you will enable the future of Google's global data center infrastructure by uniting key industry players, public sector stakeholders, and critical upstream and downstream partners. You will unlock capacity, accelerate market entry, and shape favorable development environments and will be at the forefront of forging high-stakes industry relationships to advance Google's interests and positively influence the entire digital infrastructure landscape.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$254,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a global strategy for building industry coalitions and public-private partnerships to support data center development and operations.
  • Manage relationships with C-level executives across the data center value chain, and other key industry players to drive collective action.
  • Structure and negotiate first-of-their-kind partnerships with governments to advance data center, water, and sustainability initiatives, pioneering new models for public-private development.
  • Serve as a thought leader, representing Google in industry forums and multi-stakeholder negotiations to mobilize the broader sector and shape a sustainable future for digital infrastructure.
  • Anticipate market trends, shifts, and risks, translating them into proactive partnership opportunities and mitigation strategies.
