Legal Specialist, Legal Hold Program

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of legal work experience in a law firm, government, or in-house legal department.
  • Experience using one of the legal hold platforms on the market.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with internal and external legal counsel.
  • Knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and legal hold and data preservation best practices.
  • Ability to apply quality control procedures with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work separately, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

About the job

As a Legal Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Discovery and Information Governance team, specifically supporting the legal hold program. You will leverage our specialized legal expertise and organizational skills to manage and execute legal holds efficiently, ensuring timely compliance with preservation obligations. You will have a proactive approach and communication skills to coordinate with various stakeholders across Google, manage simultaneous projects, and navigate legal matters related to information governance in a changing environment.20th century laws don't always solve 21st century problems, and Google Legal crafts innovative approaches for working with some of the toughest legal challenges of the information age. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $84,000-$120,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute legal hold notices and processes.
  • Draft, review, and maintain legal hold documentation, including hold notices, questionnaires, and release memos.
  • Coordinate with other legal teams to ensure proper data preservation and collection.
  • Maintain and organize legal hold files and databases, and track and report on legal hold compliance and activities.
  • Communicate with custodians and other parties involved in legal hold matters.
