Data Center Engineer, Civil Structural Engineering -

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in any US state(s).
  • 3 years of experience in Civil/Structural engineering for Data Center Construction.
  • Experience with building design, co-ordination, and construction.
  • Experience implementing civil/structural engineering principles (e.g., grading and drainage, hydraulic modeling, sediment control, erosion control, or soil migration).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in finite element modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and analysis.

You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

As a part of the Structural Engineer role, you will design and develop products, develop and review structural design calculations, project scopes and schedule for structural work, produce structural specifications, design basis and construction drawings, demonstrate knowledge in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System, Mathcad, spreadsheet software or similar structural design software. You will provide structural engineering and technical oversight of new modular data center designs, support program planning and program strategies, engage in typical work tasks including program structural drawing design development and review and development of program data center structural plans including new modular equipment and product designs, and support improvements to existing structural program design standards and support development of program products.The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update internal Google requirements and specifications for data center infrastructure.
  • Review and evaluate data center designs, ensuring technical compliance and adherence to Google's standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated design.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of detailed design documents for data center buildings and equipment enclosures, ensuring accuracy, compliance with requirements, and proposing alternatives for optimal performance.
