EHS Emergency Preparedness and Management Program Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience with emergency preparedness and response principles with emergency scenarios (e.g., fire, chemical release, medical, natural disasters).
  • Experience with the development and implementation of EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and principles.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certifications from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, NEBOSH, CSP or equivalent agency.
  • 5 years of experience in managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in developing and delivering EHS training programs.
  • Experience with vendor and contractor management in EHS.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.
  • Ability to develop and implement testing and drilling programs for emergency plans.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

In this role, you will be supporting the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program for our Data Centers and Technical Infrastructure assets. This role will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Global EHS Emergency Preparedness Program, ensuring conformance with Google Cloud's EHS expectations and ensuring compliance with related EHS regulations, minimizing risk, and fostering a culture of EHS excellence. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a testing program to assess the adequacy of existing emergency action plans and where required to provide recommendations for improvement. You will be ensuring that all related teams are trained in incident management and that our network of vendors and contractors for emergency response is reliable.The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new sites for emergency risks. Oversee Employee Emergency Action Plan (EEAP) implementation across all facilities (construction/operations), drive process improvements.
  • Lead EHS testing programs (e.g., drills/simulations) to assess EEAP effectiveness for scenarios (e.g., evacuations, shelter-in-place, medical), ensuring plans reflect operational/regulatory changes.
  • Oversee initial and refresher training for related personnel, including Emergency Response Teams (ERT), on emergency procedures and incident response. Verify ERT readiness.
  • Evaluate emergency response or contractor adequacy; ensure agreements meet EHS standards. Assist international/remote units with tailored emergency management and compliance.
  • Contribute to global EHS program development/improvement. Facilitate best practices, maintain up-to-date regulatory knowledge for emergency response.
