Test Development Engineer, Pixel Watches

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.
  • 1 year of experience in Python programming.
  • Experience in hardware or systems validation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining, scaling, and improving reliability of automated tests and frameworks.
  • Experience developing dashboarding tools for large data sets.
  • Experience with system components, interfaces, and protocols on mobile devices.
  • Experience with Android devices, Wear OS, or Linux and writing shell scripts.

About the job

As a Test Development Engineer, you design and develop new test features to validate watch system performance based on the lab system validation station. The test features can be purely software based or sometimes include hardware development to support the information collection of the test status. You are responsible for the system validation data storage, analysis, and visualization. Migrating data storage to Spanner or other relational database, updating dashboard to reference new storage scheme, developing new tools for identifying and debugging issues, and developing or integrating logcat parsers to better assist the teams with debugging are all your valuable work. You will develop test automation and Integrate Google’s test scheduling tools into the automation, and also support test automation for cross functional teams in the Watches organization. Ensuring all test cases can be performed with automation, and all test issues during the test can be flagged automatically.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop lab system validation test station and continue integrating new test features.
  • Develop tests within validation runner and shell script generator frameworks.
  • Write detailed standard operating procedures and share scripts with vendors and internal engineers. Verify scripts are working as expected by reviewing vendor output.
  • Incorporate automation of watch, Monsoon, N6705C, Kibble, and new equipment. Automate data analysis and visualization, as needed. Support debugging efforts of issues found by test automation.
  • Support additional teams across the organization with test development and analysis support for Electrical Engineering. validation, power validation, etc.
