About the job

As a Cryogenic Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for improving the operations and performance of Google Quantum AI’s quantum computing fleet. You will focus on the cryostat-related portions of our quantum computing technology stack. The scope includes development of scalable operations for a growing cryostat fleet as well as incremental and generational improvements to the reliability, flexibility, and capacity of cryostats that Quantum AI uses for both research and production applications over the next decade.

In this role, you will improve the efficiency, reliability, usability, and deployability of both first article and research cryostats. You will have to promote the standardization of best practices and ensure consistent outcomes in the assembly of quantum computing systems. Additionally, you will harden cryostat fleet operations by identifying potential problems and using data-driven insights to enhance cryostat design. You will also strategize the testing of new components and subsystems for future cryostat designs. In partnership with Quantum AI scientists, engineers, and vendors, you will help to define, improve upon existing, and qualify new cryostat designs to advance the development of a large-scale, error-corrected quantum computer.

The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
