Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience working on related policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, polling, public affairs, campaigns or industry associations.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field with building engagement programs with Key Opinion Formers.
- Experience in advising and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver work product, with the ability to switch between subject matter, types of projects, and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of the digital media landscape with YouTube's primary product offerings and their intersection with the public policy environment.
- Excellent research and communication skills, with the ability to work in a changing environment.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.In this role, you will drive programs essential to YouTube's business growth including personalization and youth initiatives, Generative AI (GenAI) development, and contributions to the culture, media, and creative economy in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. You will grow relationships between YouTube creators and Key Opinion Formers (KOFs), and differentiate YouTube from its participants via its product and Youtube's (YT’s) contribution narrative. You will shape public debates within the entertainment and streaming sectors and position YouTube with KOFs. You will collaborate with the Strategic Initiatives, Product and Business Policy, and Regional YouTube Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) teams and cross-functional teams including Marketing, Partnerships, and Communications. You will develop a understanding of YouTube’s products, policies, and operations and share policy knowledge with stakeholders within YouTube. You will demonstrate investigative and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate in person and in writing, an aptitude for learning, and the discipline to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and develop messaging to inform and optimize GAPP Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies.
- Execute events, rooted in tested messaging, to inform policymakers about the product and shape their perception of it. Create collateral to support GAPP GTM activities.
- Ensure execution of all GAPP GTM activities within the APAC region, especially India, Indonesia, Korea and Australia, by monitoring progress, addressing tests, and optimizing resources.
- Establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with influential YouTube creators to leverage their impact on GAPP priorities.
- Position YouTube as a preferred and valuable partner for KOFs in the region, by highlighting our unique offerings and demonstrating our commitment to their priorities.
