Technical Program Manager, Process Architect, Google Data Centers

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in Data Center Infrastructure, telecommunications, or construction industries.
  • Experience in process engineering (e.g., design, continuous improvement, system architecture, capacity delivery).

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in problem-solving, quantitative analysis, and communicating findings to executive management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional process improvement programs.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across multiple levels of an organization.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Process and Project Management Office (PMO) Excellence Group (PEG) is a centralized Google Data Center team ready to handle Google's most complex issues. The team has expertise across Critical Process Design Optimization, Overall Project Management Office (PMO) Support, Change Management Execution, and Continuous Improvement. The team is one pillar of the Systems Programs and Product Management Organization (SPP) that partners with our systems and data engineering teams to deliver centralized solutions to support Google Data Center Capacity Delivery and Operations.

From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Identify significant process breakdowns, influence upper management, and land improvement strategies.
  • Develop business process artifacts that provide view of Data Center delivery, and visually depict operational blueprint of a Data Center that provide key insights into process health, performance, and align to business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure all projects adhere to the team's process standards, guidelines, and process lean principles.
  • Use analytics and quantitative methods to assess, design, and implement process optimization, streamline and simplify cross-functional operations.
  • Develop a process of continuous improvement oriented culture that translates intent to predictable execution.
