Engineering Analyst, Account and Device Intelligence

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, etc.).
  • Experience in large-scale data analysis and related tools and processes, and expertise in automating processes, developing LLM agents or applied AI.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, anti-fraud, network engineering, malware or artificial intelligence.
  • Ability to understand complex engineering systems and processes.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment with a focus on knowledge sharing and collaboration.

About the job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. Trust and Safety Account and Device Intelligence main objective is to prevent damage to Google Users and Products through accounts by deploying upstream protections that are scalable and flexible. We combine different types of protections and approaches to security.

At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day. Trust & Safety is Google’s team of abuse fighting and user trust experts working daily to make the internet a safer place. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Build a new AI-based capability leveraging our Transformers-based detection system to evolve and automate Incident Response, while generating threat intelligence that is relevant to protect Google accounts.
  • Transform, automate and scale up our team processes by developing AI Agents. Automate a large fraction of our operational workload, like alert generation and incident analysis, using techniques derived from ML, LLMs, operations research.
  • Apply our threat intelligence to be ready to respond to new adversarial campaigns. Manage the response to incidents aiming Google Accounts, including the special response in case of severe incidents in collaboration with the UP/ADI team.
  • Work together with our Operations team to scale the operational work required to protect Google accounts, such as managing low severity escalations and alerts, and maintaining the ground truth quality.
