Manufacturing Test Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.
  • 3 years of experience using python.
  • 2 years of experience in Manufacturing Testing, including direct collaboration with Contract Manufacturers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer electronics with specialization in one or more areas: Sensors, EE, RF, Audio, Display, Camera, Mixed signal measurement, Instrumentation, or WearOS devices.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, like GRR and Cpk, in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in comprehensive analysis of technical issues, such as system performance analysis, root-cause of product issues regardless of hardware, system, or software.
  • Ability to design a test strategy, test plan and execute to meet expected milestones.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time as needed.

About the job

We are a team of Manufacturing Test Engineers in the Operations organization in charge with watch test solutions. The team owns the development, deployment, and sustaining of test software and hardware at our CM used from New Product Introduction (NPI) to Mass Production to Sustaining. Outside of our Operations Organization we work hand by hand with Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Radio Frequency (RF), Research, and Sensors teams. Inside our Operations we work very closely with Quality, Reliability, and Operations.

Our team supports manufacturing for the very latest trends in Smartwatches and there is always something new to learn and many opportunities to play with new and cool technologies. This role also provides opportunities to impact Operations Organizations goals because a small aimed improvement applied to all Devices Under Test (DUTs) will be automatically amplified by the volume.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Responsibilities

  • Create test plans and develop test scripts for testing new products. Support and improve ongoing production test scripts for engineering deviations, yield improvement and test time reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with product design and firmware engineering during new product bring-up to understand product performance and test metrics with the goal of transitioning to a factory environment.
  • Collaborate closely with internal design engineering and external test system integrators on production test fixture and system design and development to ensure good functional test coverage and reproducible results.
  • Provide DFX (Design for Manufacturability/Testability) feedback to development community.
  • Work closely with program managers and contract manufacturers to ensure adequate test capability and capacity for engineering and production builds.
