Technical Program Manager, Standards Development and Intelligence

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 8 years of experience in either compliance, or risk management.
  • Experience in relevant technical subject matter domain (Privacy, Security, AI, Data, Cloud and Emerging Technology domains).
  • Experience with external industry standards e.g, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with understanding and operationalizing regulatory and standards requirements.
  • Experience in working with technical leads and engineering teams to ensure their efforts enable compliance obligations and requirements are built into technical roadmaps.
  • Experience in building and deploying metrics management to ensure progress, improved maturity and operationally delivering what matters.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with reporting to leadership to raise awareness, drive selection-making and action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$258,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Own a body of business critical external standards, which could include Privacy, Security, AI, Data, Cloud and Emerging Technology domains.
  • Drive internal cross-functional technical working groups to contribute to developing and reviewing standards, consolidate content, and submit to Standards Development Organizations (SDOs).
  • Represent Google in the standard committees and ensure subject matter experts are engaged as appropriate.
  • Work closely with partners across Google to identify and assess gaps in compliance and technical capabilities, developing tailored intelligence reporting and identifying requirements for governance and technical roadmaps in response to business-critical standards.
  • Communicate with executive management by preparing briefing notes, reports, and tracking readiness metrics, contributing to the maturation of regulatory and standard capabilities that enable the team to scale and increase its impact.
