TPU Software Area Tech Lead, Cloud Platforms

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development and programming languages in C, C++.
  • 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture and testing or launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 9 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 6 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 5 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

About the job

We develop and integrate the full stack software that enables TPU to run AI computation in Google’s data centers, and thus empowering all the AI innovations for Google and Cloud customers.We play a key role in the introduction of each new TPU AI server, from design, system bring up, to productionisation of TPU chips, individual AI servers, and AI hyper computers including thousands of machines. We are involved in all stages of the project from concept, planning, development, deployment, and end of life in the data centers.

As TPU Software Area Tech Lead, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects. We need our engineers to display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects across a domain of technical areas like firmware, driver, system software, distributed systems. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.Develop the technical direction and road-map within the scope of your (often multiple) team(s). Evolve the road-map to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Design, guide and vet systems designs, and write product or system development code to solve problems.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions and ensure standard procedures (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
