Epi Hardware Technician, Raxium

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience working with epitaxy.
  • 1 year of experience working in a mechanical technical environment, or an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • ERT member with a 40-Hour Hazwopper training certificate (past or present).
  • Experience with MOCVD maintenance.
  • Experience with computer logging systems (MES) and workspace tools.

About the job

As an Epi Hardware Technician on the Raxium team, you will diagnose and solve problems quickly, repair root cause failures, and enable the team to deliver the cycles of learning required. Your primary responsibilities will be performing preventative maintenance (PM) and keeping epitaxy (Epi) equipment up and running. You'll regularly communicate with Engineers, Operators, and Technicians, relaying equipment status and new developments. You will log tool status in MES, plan for upcoming PMs, and maximize uptime. You'll perform mechanical assembly, parts cleaning, helium leak detection, and electrical troubleshooting on semiconductor equipment. This includes documenting all work done for future reference and contributing to Continuous Improvement efforts. You will also generate SOPs and specifications for PMs and troubleshooting.

Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $81,000-$119,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) procedures on epitaxial (Epi) reactors and associated support equipment, adhering to established timelines and protocols.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to minimize the likelihood of future failures and out-of-control situations.
  • Support daily quartz hardware cleaning in chlorine etcher or vacuum bake oven and cleaning and rebuilding reactor subsystems (filters, valve assemblies) 
  • Conduct helium leak testing procedures to identify and quantify leaks in various components and systems.
  • Handle and manipulate pyrophoric materials safely in accordance with established safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
