Executive and Internal Communications Manager, Search

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in internal and executive communications with technology products or services.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing presentations, video editing, graphic creation, and other multimedia.
  • Experience supporting executives on communications strategies and ghostwriting.
  • Experience with reactive communications and deciphering complex issues.
  • Experience with change management and communicating change.
  • Experience producing virtual and in-person events.
  • Excellent team player, with the ability to meet project deadlines, draft clean, clear email copy and create engaging, creative presentations, with attention to detail.

About the job

As a member of the Executive and Internal Communications team, you will be part of a team which produces employee communications and events for Google executives. You will work with members of your internal client team on communications initiatives, projects and programs. You will support the work of the team to create strategic communications campaigns, come up with innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with Google's culture, write communications, business update presentations and talking points. You will also collaborate with internal partners as needed across functions (PR, Policy, Legal, HR, Operations, etc.) and geographies.

Search is core to Google’s identity and mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. As an Executive and Internal Communications Manager, you will support the Search product area, lead communications in support of Search culture and people-related programs, and establish a consulting model that helps Search leaders develop and execute strategic communications aligned to our highest priorities.

In this role, you will be responsible for bringing the Search story to life through strategic communication campaigns, content creation and employee events that engage employees and capture the leaders and tone of our culture. You will come up with innovative ways to engage employees through written communications, thoughtful presentations and compelling talking points, and exercise your influence and executive presence as you coach and advise executive leadership and collaborate with a variety of internal stakeholders.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the head of Search executive and internal communications to develop and implement an internal communication strategy in support of Search’s culture and people-related programs.
  • Establish and lead a new consulting model that develops, executes, and provides counsel on communications and programs aligned to our highest priorities at the product area group level.
  • Manage internal communications aspects of project plans to ensure internal audiences receive clear communications during times of uncertainty and change.
  • Influence executives and provide advice that reflects an understanding of their business and leadership styles.
  • Plan the frequency and channels of communication and coordinate stakeholders across different areas of the business and the company.
