User Experience Researcher, Google Pay

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in an applied research environment (e.g., product or academic).
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquiries, one-on-one interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in applied User Experience (UX) research for product development.
  • Experience in the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) environment to shape product opportunities.
  • Experience with working in 0-1 setting, launching new products from the ground up and managing tests through research.
  • Experience in research design with applying qualitative research methods including usability, surveys, contextual inquiry, research through design.

Google Pay is one of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) products in India and has been instrumental in transforming the fintech landscape and everyday digital payments experience for the people across the country.

In this role, you will be instrumental in driving human-centered strategy across the product lifecycle. You will have an unique opportunity to conduct applied research focusing on creating product experiences

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct research (e.g., foundational, generative, evaluative) to define new opportunities and influence strategy across product cycle.
  • Own and execute research activities in a changing environment to inspire and partner with cross-functional teams to co-define product direction, navigate ambiguity of early-stage product development while promoting a collaborative culture to maintain momentum.
  • Apply a mixed-methods approach for selecting and applying ethnographic field studies, diary studies, contextual inquiries and usability testing.
  • Synthesize insights, recommendations through narratives, design principles, and frameworks and communicating to multiple audiences to collaborate in design and product decisions. Bring a human-centered point of view to the team.
  • Uphold ethical and responsible innovation.
