Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional experience in Infrastructure, software engineering leadership, or a related technical role.
  • Experience defining and delivering technical infrastructure strategy for products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience defining and delivering infrastructure strategy across back end, web and mobile platforms.
  • Experience defining and delivering projects to improve application performance and scalability.

About the job

As the Director of Software Engineering for Google Meet Application Infrastructure, you'll be building platforms that are essential to the daily communication of millions of businesses and users. Every critical user interaction touches this infrastructure, and every feature builds on its foundation for high reliability, performance, scalability and supportability. In this role, your focus will be on driving vision, strategy and execution for a multi-year infrastructure roadmap. You will lead a team focused on building back end, web and mobile platforms and frameworks that help deliver Google Meet features quickly, reliably, and securely.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and set the application infrastructure technology vision and roadmap for Google Meet, aligning with Google Workspace's overall strategy and objectives.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate closely with feature teams to envision and build infrastructure improvements that help developers ship features faster. 
  • Ensure operational stability, scalability, and performance of Google Meet services, meeting the highest standards of reliability and security.
