Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- 5 years of programming experience in Java, JavaScript/Typescript.
- 2 years of experience with Generative AI technologies and launching features.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience with data analysis and data visualizations domain.
- Experience with full stack software development.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will advocate our AI Enablement initiatives. You will be instrumental in building the next generation of AI-powered features in Looker Studio, enhancing how Google users gain insights and democratize data. You will use your deep technical expertise in AI/ML as well as general software engineering, a product-oriented mindset, and ability to lead complex projects across organizational boundaries as well as solid track record of designing, implementing and launching AI features in high scale production systems.
Looker is a unified platform that powers data experiences and delivers actionable business insights to employees at the point of decision. Looker integrates data into the daily workflows of users to allow organizations to extract value from data at web-scale.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of innovative AI-driven features within Looker Studio to revolutionize how users explore, analyze, and visualize data.
- Architect and build systems that deeply integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI technologies to provide intelligent assistance, automate complex tasks, and generate insights directly within the Looker Studio product.
- Expand the Looker Studio Platform and drive integrations across multiple product partners. Lead by strong collaborations and partnerships.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Data Scientists, and other engineering teams to define and deliver the roadmap for AI-native capabilities in Looker Studio.
