Technical Program Management Lead, Extended Reality

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with technical program management.
  • 7 years of experience in a leadership role with/without direct reports.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects.
  • Experience delivering software and hardware projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in computer vision engineering within the computer vision industry.
  • Experience driving and influencing teams, including executives.
  • Understanding of software and hardware product launches and NPI (New Product Introduction).
  • Familiar with writing scripts PLX/ Dremel/ App script at Google.
  • Ability to manage programs effectively with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to grow in ambiguous situations, establish structure, and lead programs.

About the job

In this role, you will direct a portfolio of programs to deliver products for Extended Reality (XR). You will ensure cross-team alignment on goals, priorities, roadmap, and schedules while effectively communicating the status and health of releases to all stakeholders. This role requires the ability to identify and resolve gaps in current processes and tools to ensure successful delivery, as well as the identify methods that contribute to operational scalability for the internal team.You will manage cross-functional planning and prioritization to ensure the team meets its goals. You will be responsible for managing a team of program and technical program managers, fostering cross-functional relationships across the organization. You must have a track record of delivering software and hardware projects.For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy, define, lead, and own the execution of XR programs from conception to launch, ensuring alignment with the overall product goals and business objectives. Drive program schedules, identify risks, manage dependencies, and communicate status to stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, build alliances, and advocate for program needs across different organizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Management, UX Design, Research, and Operations to deliver high-quality XR products and services.
  • Lead triage with Technical Leads on incoming issues for your focus areas.
  • Manage a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs), fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
