Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with reliability, quality engineering or related field.
  • Experience in applying design for reliability techniques (FTA, DFMEA) and reliability modeling techniques.
  • Experience in collaboration with cross-functional teams on assessing risks and identify corrective actions for failures captured in reliability testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, including Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility.
  • Experience in generating CAD drawing for test jig (NX) and FEA simulation (Abaqus).
  • Experience in Consumer Product Hardware Development.

About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform the design of new products. Your communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

In this position, you will assess the reliability of critical modules, including camera and sensor systems. You will collaborate with design , test, manufacturing and operations teams to define test standards and supervise execution. You will perform basic electrical debug, failure analysis, and building effective cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute reliability tests and requirements for camera modules (VCM, lens, etc.) to expose design weaknesses and establish acceleration models for new technologies.
  • Understand technology drivers and conduct Early Collaboration with engineering teams to bring out design weaknesses of critical modules.
  • Establish and lead module-level DfR activities, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), applying Design of Experiments (DoE).
  • Lead Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA) efforts, by designing test jigs and identifying mechanical weaknesses via physical or virtual simulation.
  • Translate test results into meaningful product life metrics and collaborate across internal and external teams (Design, Quality, FA) to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
