Privacy Engineer, Cloud Privacy Operations and Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience designing solutions that maintain or enhance the privacy posture of the organization by analyzing and assessing proposed engineering designs (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems) and influencing stakeholders.
  • 2 years of experience applying privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.), and customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet organizational needs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience balancing risks in ambiguous situations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple high priority requests, while determining resource allocation (e.g., time, prioritization) to solve the problems in a changing organization.
  • Knowledge of common regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

About the job

As a Privacy Engineer at Google Cloud, you will be responsible for safeguarding user data and ensuring responsible data managing practices. You will work closely with product teams and other stakeholders to integrate privacy considerations into product design, development, and launch processes. You will also be responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing privacy enhancing solutions for Google Cloud, as well as identifying, designing, and implementing tooling and automation solutions for Cloud Privacy. In addition, you will provide subject matter expertise to engineering teams within Google Cloud, identify and escalate potential privacy concerns, and advise on technical privacy trade-offs. You will also work cross-functionally within Google Cloud on activities related to privacy, data governance, and data compliance, and conduct privacy reviews and consultations. This role requires an understanding of privacy principles, data protection laws, privacy-related technologies, and applied AI/ML. You will analyze privacy risks, design secure data architectures, and implement privacy controls. You will be passionate about protecting user data and ensuring responsible data managing practices to make a real difference at Google Cloud.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Identify, design, and implement privacy enhancing solutions for Google Cloud and implement tooling and automation solutions Cloud Privacy.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering teams within Google Cloud.
