Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience in leading large complex infrastructure projects and delivering them to production.
- Experience in building distributed storage systems (e.g., blob/object, file, block).
- Excellent people management and communication skills, and ability to build consensus.

Join the cold storage team in Infra Storage, a newly established initiative dedicated to building the future of cold data storage at Google. Our next-generation archival technology is designed to meet the rising demand for massive-scale, low-cost data preservation, while providing high reliability and accessibility when needed. Our mission is to significantly reduce the Total Cost of Ownership compared to conventional storage enabling new storage capacity to support massive growth for years to come and safeguard data from threats such as hardware malfunctions and operational errors.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers. Oversee the team’s execution, provide technical guidance (e.g., design review, code review) to individuals to ensure best practices throughout the software development life-cycle.
- Set the team priorities to support the broader organization’s goals, collaborate with executive leadership to discover the technical roadmap for the cold storage platform.
- Communicate with partner teams and build alignment on strategy, decision-making, and project plan.
- Make direct technical contributions (e.g., design, development, debugging issues) to the cold storage platform development.
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, meet regularly with individuals to provide feedback and coaching, fostering their growth and career development.
