Software Engineer, Security, Fuchsia OS

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with Rust, C, C++.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with security reviews, audits and common security attack techniques and mitigations (e.g.,denial of service/distributed denial of service (DoS/DDoS), man-in-the-middle, spoofing, privilege escalation, etc).
  • Experience in a product or platform security team.
  • Knowledge of systems thinking and analysis to see how things might fail in unexpected ways.
  • Understanding of operating systems at a technical level and security impacting considerations.
  • Understanding of strong user orientation, especially through the lens of trust, safety, security, and privacy.
  • Excellent people management and communication skills for collaboration with remote team members across multiple time zones.

Fuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scoped Fuchsia security audits and assessments for goal devices, software components, new features, and platform design changes. Document and share security findings, observations, exploits, and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain core security components, mitigations, features, and boundaries.
  • Manage Fuchsia infrastructure and Support Widget (SW) supply chain.
  • Assist with security incident response and build tools and processes to reduce the incidence of security bugs in the codebase.
  • Advise and educate the Fuchsia organization on security matters to ensure a high state of security for Fuchsia products.
