Data Center Equipment Manufacturing Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer in a heavy industrial environment, within the Data Center space or Automotive production.
  • Experience with industry standards and codes (e.g., IEEE, NEC, NESC).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/5S/8D practices.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience overseeing yield improvements and cycle time reductions for high volume and high complexity parts.
  • Experience in Data Center cooling, Electrical and Serverhall.
  • Ability to proactively influence the product design process by proposing improvements with associated data.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000-$166,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive manufacturing engineering support to Google's global manufacturing partners during development and production builds.
  • Identify and evaluate agreement manufacturers/vendors to fabricate data center related products and architecture.
  • Conduct manufacturing and process audits and qualify agreement manufacturers/vendors.
  • Resolve manufacturing and field tests by applying skills, Design For Excellence (DFx), escalating design, manufacturing, and product test issues to others within the organization when appropriate. Identify, initiate, and drive process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining exceptional quality.
  • Utilize Product Data Management (PDM) systems to create and maintain Bills of Materials (BoM), Approved Vendor Lists (AVL), and Engineering Change Notifications/Orders (ECN/O) in support of Google Products.
