Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • 3 years of experience working with executive leaders and cross-functional partners (e.g., Product Management, Engineering).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Experience setting goal and strategy for design challenges.
  • Experience in design thinking leadership (e.g., establishing new frameworks, driving organizational change) to address complexity in highly collaborative, cross-functional organizations.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and business leaders and articulate design's value to executive leadership.
  • Proven track record of managing designers in a fast-paced environment and scaling a multi-disciplinary design team.

You will be responsible for guiding the careers of your direct reports, helping them realize their full potential while fostering a culture of forward-thinking design. With a practiced eye for quality, you will transform complex workflows into elegantly simple experiences. You will collaborate closely with Engineering and Product Management leaders to align business goals with design innovation, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and execution.

As a Senior UX Design Manager for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and YouTube BrandConnect, you will lead the design goal for how creators make money from their passion and build sustainable businesses on our platform. You will oversee a high-performing team to drive product excellence and consistency across YouTube’s most critical business generation features. You will be bridging user needs and business impact, ensuring that our next big bets empower a various range of creators to reach their fullest potential.

In this role, you will work closely partner with your executive Product Management and Engineering counterparts to co-lead your product areas, and collaborate with your colleagues in Google Ads organization to ensure product-market-fit for all users of our ecosystem. You will collaborate with our Zurich-based UX leadership team, including regular morning syncs and periodic travel to Switzerland.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$333,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Forge strong partnerships with executive YouTube and Google Ads leaders to influence product strategy and roadmaps, solving complex and ambiguous challenges.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing UX team, defining growth pathways and structure while fostering a culture of innovation and design excellence.
  • Establish a compelling UX goal across critical priorities, ensuring user understanding drives strategic decisions, business impact, and brand loyalty.
  • Uphold a high bar for design craft and scale UX frameworks to ensure coherence and efficiency across YouTube’s business generation features.
