Technical Program Manager, Environmental Compliance, APAC

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Biology, Meteorology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in environmental compliance program management.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory requirements, remedial investigations, environmental due diligence, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to review environmental impact assessments and permit applications consistent with required standards for business decision making in APAC region.
  • Experience with environmental and building permit application preparation, environmental impact assessment preparation and pollution control technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in environmental program management.
  • Experience communicating with regional and national authorities regarding EHS issues.
  • Knowledge of data center operations, facilities management, engineering and/or construction.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively collaborate with cross functional teams.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting new site acquisition and growth for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs from due diligence to management system implementation, and environmental compliance. You will ensure environmental issues are identified and addressed. This role will also be responsible for coordinating the stakeholders in meeting scheduled timelines while ensuring compliance with established EHS standards and local regulations. You will also oversight to new and critical EHS initiatives to continue to create and iterate our EHS program.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate operational environmental risks for impact to the business, starting from due diligence through campus planning and design phases. Analyze risk scenarios to determine their potential impact to the business and design/lead programs to mitigate those risks.
  • Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with global GDC strategy, including analyzing environmental business risks and identifying efficiencies with a focus on soil and groundwater remediation, hazardous waste, water and wastewater, environmental permitting and compliance, solid waste/geotechnical, air emissions, environmental and human health risk assessment.
  • Lead environmental permitting, investigations and assessments to support compliance with APAC local and national regulations.
  • Contribute to regional/global tracking of milestones and deliverables for environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage portfolio of EHS initiatives and programs for all environmental initiatives and manages contractors and internal stakeholders.
