Privacy Engineer, AI Privacy Consulting and Governance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience designing solutions that maintain or enhance the privacy posture of the organization by analyzing and assessing proposed engineering designs (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems) and influencing stakeholders
  • 2 years of experience applying privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.), and customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet organizational needs
  • Experience in Privacy, Business Communication, Privacy Data Handling, Information Privacy, Privacy Design Document

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in managing multiple high priority requests, while determining resource allocation (e.g., time, prioritization) to solve the problems in a fast-paced, changing organization
  • Knowledge of common regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • An understanding and experience in end-to-end development of ML models and applications
  • Understanding of privacy principles, and a passion for keeping people and their data safe

About the job

The Governance team manages risk postures and compliance objectives, specifically risks about the effective use of data, products, and software systems within Google. Our aim is to ensure that systems, products and data are managed to keep the trust and safety of users, third parties and employees.

Google’s innovations and goals in AI, in particular generative AI, have sparked a rapid pace of change across the company. Along with this new and exciting domain come new risks and implications that are still emergent and not yet well-understood. We ensure that increased Privacy, Safety and Security expectations are met by product launchers without increasing toil.

Responsibilities

  • Escalate critical and novel AI risks to central and product leadership forums, as needed.
  • Work with Privacy Engineers to design and develop technical documentation across teams to drive consistent privacy decisions within the AI domain.
  • Navigate multiple, interdependent work-streams, functional and technical concepts, and conversations with stakeholders to ensure AI and GenAI privacy requirements are met.
  • Connect-the-dots across systems, products and teams in order to duplicate and scale AI privacy governance solutions across Google.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and drive privacy outcomes for AI datasets, models, products, and features
