Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in software engineering, building and working with systems in the technology organization.
- Experience with technical innovation within cross-functional engineering environments.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience successfully producing software products and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with building enterprise grade and highly scalable cloud platforms, products, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with operating systems, distributed systems, and IaaS components.

Gemini Cloud Assist is the Google Cloud AI-powered cloud management product portfolio that transforms the experience of our customers across all surfaces to learn, design, deploy, operate, investigate and optimize their applications, workloads, and services. The AI space is evolving rapidly with newer and powerful models, agent frameworks, protocols, and security. We are seeking a Principal Engineer to strategize, build, and develop Gemini Cloud Assist products and platforms that are simple, secure, and scalable.
As the Principal Engineer you will define the long-term technical strategy for Gemini Cloud Assist products and platform, and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between technology and business goals. You will be an expert in cloud provider scale control plane and management planes. You'll work alongside other technical leads on the team on problems that span building and optimizing the systems to serve Applied AI and agentic architectures at scale. You will ensure operational and production accuracy in design, development and operation processes, helping improve software quality and engineering productivity.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Provide architecture and technical direction for the team by being an expert in cloud application management.
- Be able to strategize and create the technical roadmap for building agentic, LLM powered, contextual cloud assistance products, platforms, and tooling to transform the Google Cloud application experiences.
- Influence, guide, mentor, and direct multiple Engineering Technical Leads across each product area.
