Software Engineering Manager, Google Data Centers Clusters

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration frameworks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in developing distributed , large-scale platforms and exposure to mobility technologies.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms ( Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Cloud Computing Platform, etc.) and Large Language Models (LLM) serving infrastructure.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts with the understanding of complex inter-dependencies of a large-scale infrastructure.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

GDCE is a portfolio of fully managed hardware/software and AI solutions which extends Google Cloud’s Infrastructure to the edge and to customer’s data centers. It is enabled by Anthos and is ideal for hosting AI models, AI inferencing, local data processing, edge-computing for latency sensitive workloads, and for meeting sovereignty, strict data security/residency, and privacy requirements. We are a self-sufficient GDCE India organization with a dedicated team to assist this effort. The GDCE Clusters and Services team has a clear focus: Bringing Google's first-party and third-party models to the edge, development of scalable edge Kubernetes clusters.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects and provide technical leadership to inspire team to innovate, design, and implement advanced capabilities for Google Distributed Cloud Edge (GDCE) Cluster team - hire and scale the individual teams.
  • Partner and collaborate with related engineering teams, product and program management team to deliver high quality solutions in a timely manner.
  • Work with partner teams and product managers in developing a longterm product charter and technology roadmap.
  • Drive operational and project execution and management excellence.
  • Develop and grow talent (including TLs and managers) through hiring, mentoring, and coaching.
